This video explains what happens to electrical energy in a pure capacitive circuit and why there is no real power loss in such a setup. A capacitor doesn’t convert electrical energy into a form of heat like a resistor. Instead, it temporarily stores charges and then returns the energy back to the circuit.

We explore how alternating voltage affects the flow of charges through a capacitive circuit, creating a continuous pattern of charging and discharging. This produces both instantaneous current and instantaneous voltage, which are out of phase by 90 degrees. As a result, at every instant when voltage is maximum, current is zero—and when current is maximum, voltage is zero.

Due to this phase difference, the average power over a full cycle becomes zero, meaning the circuit does not consume energy permanently. The electrical energy taken in by the capacitor in one part of the cycle is fully returned in the other half, resulting in no net power loss in the ideal or pure capacitive case.
