Spring training is a special time of year for baseball fans. Players get to take the field for the first time of the year and fans get a glimpse of what is to come during the season (as well as future seasons).

In this video, I begin with the history of spring training, going all the way back to Hot Springs, Arkansas in the 1880s. I talk about the founding of the Grapefruit and Cactus leagues as well as how these two leagues got their names.

I then show how spring training is organized today and what exactly goes on during spring training. I touch on the different match-ups that can be seen and how the atmosphere is greatly different from that of a regular season game. I also talk about extended spring training towards the end.
