Motorway driving isn't covered in driving lessons in the UK as learner drivers aren't allowed on the motorway until they have passed their driving test. I designed this video to help drivers who have never been on a motorway before and want to know what to expect. Not all motorways are this wide, busy or confusing so don't worry! I deliberately chose one of the largest stretches of motorway in the country so I could show you as much as possible.

The point I make about speed limits in red circles being mandatory is important and will be covered more in a separate video. It's not just red cirlcles, circular signs in general prohibit things so you can't go over whatever speed they show.

The car I'm driving (a Ford Fiesta) has a lane change signal feature where if you tap the signal stalk softly it will flash the signals on three times only, just in case you wonder why sometimes I push the stick softly and it might look as though the signals aren't on when they are.

The route I drove start from Barkers lane just outside south Birmingham and then I went from junction 3 of the M42 to Junction 10 of the M42 northbound and then back to junction 3 of the M42.
