Great investment in public education, now we have to make sure the funding is used to lower class sizes and hire mental health professionals in schools.

Appreciate the new mandate to electrify all school busses by 2035 to tackle climate change, but now we have to work on mandating that all public buildings are retrofitted so we can install solar panels on their roofs.

The budget doesn’t go far enough to expand mental health services. Bonuses for mental health providers is appreciated, but that will only help maintain the level of services.

Small businesses will appreciate the tax relief included in the budget to help them pay for COVID-19 related costs, but we need meaningful rent relief for small businesses. Commercial rent is too high!

The budget does not go far enough on housing to address the homelessness crisis. We need to reform the tax break programs available to real estate developers so we building more affordable housing and less market-rate housing. We need a real state investment in NYCHA to do the necessary repairs in our crumbling public housing buildings.
