Fisherman's daughter who married a King.
Noori Jam Tamachi is a famous sindhi folktale of 15th Century.
Noori Jam Tamachi is one of the seven romances story written in Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s most famous "Shah Jo Risalo". 

Sultan Rukunuddin Jam Tamachi was a King and ruler of Sindh in 1389 to 1392 A.D. Samma Dynasty
According to tradition, He was a kind ruler and fell in love with a fisherwoman Noori. Jam Tamachi was very happy with Noori and gave her respect above all his other royal queens. Jam Tamachi also build a palace for Noori on the bank of Keenjhar Lake, but there is no sign of this palace.

Noori belonged to Mohana Tribe having sub cast of Gundra. Noori was a beautiful and charming lady. She had a fair complexion and shined as bright as a full moon. Noori means "shining light" . Noori had love for her village and she used to spend time on blue water keenjhar lake.

Whereas Jam Tamachi belonged to the Unar tribe of Sindh. He was hunting and took rest in the village where Noori was also living. Upon arrival of a king in her village, she was very curious to see a king. When Jam Tamachi looked Noori, they both fell in love with each other and soon married. King other royal queens were jealous of Noori, but the King was impressed with the nature, simplicity, obedience and behaviour of Noori.

This story has been retold many times and regarded as divine of love by Sufies.

According to the Legend, Noori was died when Jam Tamachi was alive. Jam Tamachi made a tomb in the middle of the Keenjhar Lake where he met first time with Noori. Arround 4 KM distance in middle of the Lake.The water of the lake is clean and hygienic however, it remains always rampant due to heavy winds. 

Many devotees have been visiting her shrine on daily basis.

People also say that Jam Tamachi and Mai Noori Tombs are on Makli Hill and not in this Lake.
The tomb of Jam Tamachi can be identified near the monument of Jam Nizamuddin and Sheikh Hammad Jamali in Makli Hill. 35 KM away from Keenjhar Lake.
According to "Tuhfat-ul-Karam" Thatta History Book, the tomb of Jam Tamachi and Noori are towards the south of the grave of Sheikh Hammad and is enclosed in a dome.

People also say that when the Kheenjar Lake was being expanded for more water for supply to Karachi during the Ayub Khan government, the tombs on the mound were given specific attention and the surface of the mound was elevated high about 100 feet further and giving it the shape of a round circle where the two graves were again erected so that water cannot reach the graves.

Both the graves are covered with colourful cloths and are being visited by hundred of devotees every day, mostly the Local Fisherwomen to refresh the love between a ruler and a poor fisherwoman.

There is another shrine in the keenjhar lake. This grave is of Shah Hundro Pir. The Spiritual teacher of Mai Noori. The Love Story of Noori Jam Tamachi had happy ending as both lived happily after marriage.

Keenjhar Lake or Kalri Jheel is located in Thatta District of Sindh. 130 KM northeast of Karachi. Lengh of the Lake is 24 KM and width is 6 KM. This place is good for picnic for families. There are shrines in the middle of the Lake. The famous shrine is Noori Jam Tamachi.
