Aid trucks bound for Gaza were seen moving through Egypt on January 27, as the Rafah border crossing is expected to reopen under the next phase of President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Gaza war. The development follows Israel’s confirmation of the recovery and identification of the remains of police officer Ran Gvili, the last remaining hostage held in Gaza for more than 840 days. Washington says the second stage of the plan, which includes reopening Rafah, has now begun. While aid deliveries have increased since the October 2025 ceasefire, Palestinian and UN officials warn the flow remains insufficient and are calling for unrestricted humanitarian access as the next phase unfolds.
