This run was a part of the Games Done Swiftly charity event, organised by the Tr3 Gamers (  / tr3gamers  ) on 29.11-1.12 to raise money for the kids in Tampere University Hospital.

The run started at around 2 AM local time. I knew I had found a lot of improvements since the last run, and that I could probably beat my old WR of 8h 17min even with extreme tiredness. I was dreaming of getting this game finished in under 7 hours.

The start was quite poor. I made simple mistakes in the earlier levels, like forgetting to hire a nurse on multiple occasions and failing to hire a surgeon in Simpleton. These levels took me more quarter years than I thought they would take.

But as the run developed further, the adrenaline, combined with the chills of the night time, kicked in. I played the game rather well, and couldn't believe my eyes when I arrived to the final level, Battenberg, with only 4h 38min on the clock. But I knew that it was the exact level I lost twice during my last attempt as a result of exhaustion.

So I didn't allow my watch to drop at any point. The realization that this would be the run, that this might be the final nail, crept in. I kept performing, and I finally won the game in a faster time I had ever imagined... All hospitals on Consult (Hard) difficulty in 5h 32min 57s.

There were still many mistakes, especially in the earlier levels. Judging by my notes on theoretical optimal times with current strategies, I believe a human can finish the game in under 5 hours. Practicing to achieve that, however, would take a tremendous lot of effort and time.

There seems to be some interest in running the game lately, and quite some runs for the individual levels, but I suspect not many are as crazy as me to run the whole game. Still, I'd like to be wrong in this one. I'm not going to run the game again unless there is some real reason to do it.
