"When Multiple Classics Combine"

With retro styled cutscenes, which can sometimes remind of Fallout 2's scenes and inventory system that brings older Resident Evil vibes, this (yet-to-come) game brings an interesting story of a French man, who was, together with his brother, sent to the front of the warfare to battle against German army.
The story is in fact quite accurate with the actual historical events.

a quick history lesson -
The year is 1916, and the World War I is at it's peak. The German 5th Army has breached onto the French soil and started the battle with the goal to claim Meuse Heights, a good defensive position and with good observation for artillery-fire on Verdun.
The Germans first captured Fort Douaumont, in just three days, after that the advance was slowed down. French infantry counter-attacked and managed to reclaim the Fort, but soon after lost it again. This time, German army pushed even further and captured Fort Vaux and continued on with original plan, to take over Fort Souville, pushing the French defences from multiple sides.

additionally few words (that might have been) mentioned in-game, explained -
Poilus -- French infantrymen
Rose de guerre (ruse of war) -- act of military deception (good example is Trojan Horse)
Salient -- troop, tacticaly attack by enemy forces, where army surrounds them from multiple sides, making the troops vulnerable (basically Germans drove a salient into French defences, making them vulnerable).

Another interesting fact, Battle of Verdun was the longest (and the greatest) battle of World War I and lasted almost a whole year (21 February - 18 December 1916).
