One of the commenters pointed out a big mistake I made on the 1st Rappel. There are deep grooves forming right under the Rappel Chains and one should walk away from the rappel landing zone thus pulling the rope away from the wall while pulling it down. This responsible move will reduce rope trapping groove formation! It is especially important for long Rappels with lots of heavy rope dragging on the soft sand stone. This procedure also improves all of our safety by pulling the rope away from the rock face and reducing the chances that a rope gets stuck! Rescues are horrible and hard on canyons as well. . . I generally practice this procedure and regret not doing it here. . . Helmets are ALWAYS Advised for Canyoneering.

Cassidy Arch Canyon is a true Canyoneering Classic located in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah! With Eight Drops, 2 over 130ft, and Spectacular Scenery the Whole way! Two rappels are through natural bridges as well to further distinguish this Incredible Canyon.
