ROYSTON TOWN BAND and ROYSTON DEVELOPMENT BAND were very pleased to return to Parish Church of St John the Baptist in Royston for our Spring Concert 2023. This was the first time we'd been back since the church suffered a devastating fire in December 2018. Happily the church has been fully restored and the acoustic is just as lovely as it always was. Our enthusiastic audience was keen to hear the bands and we were also joined by friends from La Loupe, Royston's twin town in France.

This is probably the most well-known work from the French romantic composer GABRIEL FAURÉ. Originally written for piano and later for orchestra with choir, this arrangement by GORDON LANGFORD is a study in concentration and stamina for a brass band. We were fortunate to be able to feature one of the visiting French musicians CLÉMENT LECOINTRE on the melody.
