00:15 Burmese Python
A vulnerable species found in the East of India. Until 2009, they were considered a subspecies of Indian Rock Python. They have dark brown blotches with black border which are irregularly shaped on a tan or grey background. The Blotches fit together like a giraffe pattern. They have Dark wedges on top of head, below head, and behind the eye. They are excellent swimmers, being able to stay submerged for up to half an hour. They can grow to over 20 feet in length. Females are considerably heavier and bulkier than the males.


01:09 Indian Rock Python
Also known as Indian python or Asian rock python is a near threatened species found in the Indian subcontinent. They are generally lighter colored than the Burmese python. Their color pattern is whitish or yellowish with the blotched patterns varying from tan to dark brown shades. They have a thick body, smooth scales, head is broader than neck, eyes have vertical pupils. Two dark streaks are visible on the either side of the head. Each side has two streaks; one below the other, behind eye. After a heavy meal, they may fast for weeks, the longest recorded duration is 2 years.


02:15 Reticulated Pythons
Have net-like patterning giving them their name. They are found in Nicobar Islands and North East of India. They are the largest snakes native to Asia measuring upto 22.8 feet. They have black, white, and yellow markings on a gray background resembling a row of diamonds. They have a districts thin narrow line that runs down the center of their head.
