When you think of vacationing on islands, places like the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Greece might come to mind first. However, we encourage you to consider the Azores, an almost untapped paradise, as your next destination. Each of the nine islands has something special to offer, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.

Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or both, the Azores islands have you covered! Here are just a few of the activities you can enjoy: summer festivals, concerts, hiking, climbing to the highest point in Portugal (2351 meters), delicious fresh seafood, meals cooked in volcanic soil, whale and dolphin watching, cave tours, wine tours, snorkeling and scuba diving, museums, hot springs and natural pools, golf, and so much more! We only experienced a handful of these activities, so we'll need to return very soon!

The Azores, a Portuguese archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean, is located approximately 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) west of Lisbon and about 3,900 kilometers (2,400 miles) southeast of the east coast of North America. These volcanic islands feature rugged terrain, lush greenery, and a unique culture. The archipelago comprises nine major islands and eight smaller islets.
