In this gameplay video we are in the first flying class and we get introduced to Madame Kogawa.

To be quite frank, the controls for broom flying are horrible when using keyboard and mouse. Instead of giving more intuitive control through the mouse, 80% of it is done with keys on the keyboard. Turning, boosting, increasing and decreasing altitude are all keys.

There is minimal left and right control (limited to 'yaw' for those of you who know some piloting or flying concepts). I think it's because they wanted the mouse to devoted to "free looking", separate from controlling the broom. Which I think is a poor choice. There is such a thing as toggling with hotkey to get around this.

On top of that, there is no analog "feel" with the keys. It is set to one specific level of magnitude, and very often leads to understeer and oversteer.

There was a mod on Nexus Mods that added proper mouse piloting, but the comments section seems to show a lot of breaking going on, so a lot of investment to get it working.

I never tried with an Xbox controller, perhaps it's better with that.

I don't have a video of it, but there are flying challenges in the game, and they are a real pain when trying to beat the time challenges with the world's wonkiest control scheme for flying.

Look at it this way: One modder, in their own time and outside of access to the source code, jury-rigged a mouse control scheme. The developers had the resources and access to the source code and they *could not* do the same thing.

I am playing with mods enabled in-game. The mods I am using are:

¤ Makeup | 4 New Styles & 114 Additional Colours

Graphical settings are all on Ultra AND Ray Tracing is switched on. I'm running on an RTX 4080 Super.

I am using ReShade with a slightly modified version of the Accio Clarity preset. You find Accio Clarity on Nexus Mods.
The preset removes the weird fog that was over everything, sharpens edges and textures a bit, adds some fake HDR (which I later turn off, there's overkill in places with high sunshine), adds shine to certain surfaces.
