The Forests in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) are wonderful areas to explore at any time of the year. Overlooking the beautiful welsh town of Betws-y-Coed, I stayed in the Gwydir Forest for a week of Landscape Photography during September 2023.

I first explored the River Conwy, which passes through Betws-y-Coed, then hiked directly from the rental cottage located into the heart of the forest. From the forest I watched the mist roll across the distant mountains and captured some dramatic mountain photos. It was a relief to have some cooler and cloudier weather after the heat-wave during the first week of September.

Towards the end of my stay, I was rewarded with a golden sunset from high up in the Gwydir Forest, with a view looking west towards the mountains that overlook the Ogwen valley.
