A Maryland resident has been diagnosed with a rare, flesh-eating parasite known as the New World screwworm. The Maryland Department of Health (MDOH) told 7News on Tuesday that the resident has recovered from the infection and there is no indication of transmission to anyone or any animals. Health officials also said that the individual recently traveled to El Salvador.
