With over 1000 rescuers, the search operations in Kerala’s Wayanad entered its 6th day on August 04. As the rescue ops continue, several people are still feared trapped in the debris after a series of landslides hit the hilly region of Wayanad. The rescue team battled through the treacherous conditions and searched for traces of life through muddy water, boulders. Heavy rain triggered landslides in the Chooralmala and Mundakkai hills of Wayanad on July 30 sending torrents of mud and water that swept away the area. Over 1,300 rescuers, heavy machinery, & advanced equipment has been deployed to find survivors as ops entered final stage. The landslides in Chooralmala and Mundakkai of Wayanad have resulted in the devastating loss of 308 lives. As per the latest update, 215 bodies and 143 body parts were recovered, including 98 males, 87 females, and 30 children. The post-mortem procedures were completed on 212 bodies and 140 body parts, and 148 bodies have been identified by relatives so far.
