The Pantsir-SM-SV combat vehicle , a modernized version of the Pantsir-S air defense system , has completed its trials, as announced by the state company Rostec on January 3, 2024.

Testing of the Pantsir-SM-SV has reportedly met the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

These tests were carried out by specialists from the Instrument Design Bureau named after Academician AG Shipunov which is part of the High Precision Complex company, Rostec.

The Pantsir-SM-SV mobile air defense system is designed to protect ground forces during combat operations and their movements.

The Pantsir-SM-SV , which uses a tracked vehicle platform, provides increased maneuverability in various conditions, such as snow and off-road terrain .

This feature allows it to effectively accompany and protect other air defense systems on the move.

The Pantsir-SM-SV's arsenal includes high-speed guided missiles with a range of up to 40 km and cost-effective mini-missiles designed to destroy light drones.

This expanded arsenal increases its ability to counter a variety of air threats, including unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), cruise missiles, as well as fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

The radar system on the Pantsir-SM-SV has also been upgraded, doubling its field of view to 75 km from only 36 km previously.

This increased radar capability allows for better detection and more effective target engagement at longer ranges.
