GAYS MILLS, Wis. (WKBT) -- Residents are displaced after an early morning fire in Gays Mills, Wisconsin.

Gays Mills Fire Chief Earl Winsor said his department got a call around 3 a.m. for an apartment building on fire.

The building, owned by Couleecap, consists of five units.

Winsor said the middle apartment caught fire and quickly spread up into the attic. There are fire-breaks between each apartment that kept the fire isolated to the one unit.

It took crews about an hour and a half to extinguish the flames. The adjacent units suffered minor smoke and water damage.

Gas and electric utilities have been disabled to all units, but Couleecap's maintenance team is on-site and working to get them working again.

Chief Winsor said no one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Soldier's Grove Fire Department assisted with the fire.
