Journalist William Rhoden on the Dehumanization of Black Athletes

Charles Blow sits down with sports journalist William Rhoden to discuss how sports fans dehumanize Black athletes.



A Boston Celtics fan was recently arrested for throwing a water bottle at Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving as he was leaving the court. Irving said that he felt that he was being treated like he was an animal at the zoo.



“Black athletes began declaring war on the status quo about four years ago when Colin Kaepernick began kneeling,” Rhoden says.
