ICBAS – School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is an organic unit of the University of Porto (U.Porto).
The scientific domains are in the field of the life and health sciences, covering the areas of human, animal and environmental health.
ICBAS training programmes focus on the preparation for professional practice in human medicine, veterinary medicine, aquatic sciences, biochemistry and bioengineering, as well as Master's and PhD specialisations in these and related areas.
Recently, ICBAS has taken the One Health concept as the central inspiration for its intervention in science and the community, which stems from the unequivocal interconnection between human, animal and environmental health. This model is a continuation of the ideas and values of its founders who, back in 1975, succeeded in creating a multidisciplinary school with strong links to the outside world, a pioneer in Portugal in this respect.
