OEMC, CPD and CFD Exercise/Demonstration at the 18th Annual National Homeland Security Conference.

The 18th annual National Homeland Security Conference (NHSC) was hosted by the City of Chicago and the National Homeland Security Association board for the first time ever in Chicago July 23-27, 2023. The (NHSC) annually brings together professionals in Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, EMS, and Emergency Management. They include officials in all levels of government agencies, nonprofit agencies, business owners, universities, and decision makers to learn about emerging trends in homeland security, public safety, and emergency management as well as the ability to showcase and see the new equipment and technology available to support their mission. On Wednesday, July 26, 2023 the Chicago Fire Department and Chicago Police Department performed an asset demonstration of a live water rescue incident in addition to an active threat response incident on the Chicago River. The Chicago Fire Department Air Sea Rescue helicopters, marine units, and Chicago Police Department SWAT and special functions teams took part.
