Traditional heart surgery involves a large chest cut that takes 3 to 6 months to heal. With robotic surgery, we avoid cutting the breastbone. Instead, we make a few tiny holes and a small 5 cm incision. This approach offers less pain, lower risk of infection, reduced blood loss, and a quicker recovery.
It’s especially helpful for young patients who need to return to work early and for older patients with other health issues. In bypass surgeries, we use arteries instead of leg veins, which improves long-term outcomes—90% of patients don’t experience a recurrence.
We also perform valve repairs and replacements the same way. Robotic tools offer 15–20x magnification, four arms that rotate 360°, and better precision. This not only enhances safety but also makes training easier.
