SHOW INFO:

My Hero Academia (Japanese: 僕のヒーローアカデミア, Hepburn: Boku no Hīrō Akademia) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters additionally collected into 39 tankōbon volumes as of November 2023. Set in a world where superpowers (called "Quirks") have become commonplace, the story follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy who was born without a Quirk but still dreams of becoming a superhero himself. He is scouted by the world's greatest hero, All Might, who bestows his Quirk to Midoriya after recognizing his potential, and helps to enroll him in a prestigious high school for superheroes in training.

My Hero Academia is set in a world where about 80% of the human population has gained superpowers called "Quirks" (個性, Kosei). Quirks vary widely and can be inherited. Among the Quirk-enhanced individuals, a few of them earn the title of Heroes, who cooperate with authorities in rescue operations and apprehending criminals who abuse their Quirks, commonly known as Villains. In addition, Heroes who excel on their duties gain celebrity status and are recognized as "Pro Heroes" (プロヒーロー, Puro Hīrō). Heroes are ranked in popularity, with higher ranking heroes receiving public appeal, although it is not uncommon for rookie heroes to gain popularity as well.

Tenko Shimura (志村 転弧, Shimura Tenko) / Tomura Shigaraki (死柄木 弔, Shigaraki Tomura)
Voiced by: Kōki Uchiyama,[82][83] Arisa Sekine (young) (Japanese); Eric Vale,[7] Emily Fajardo (young) (English)
The main antagonist of the series and All For One's apprentice. Born the grandson of All Might's master Nana Shimura, he was rescued off the streets by All For One as a child after he accidentally slaughtered his entire family with his Quirk Decay (崩壊, Hōkai) which enables him to disintegrate whatever he touches with his fingers and anything connected to it.[84] The character was based on the protagonist of the author's first one-shot titled "Tenko", starring the eponymous boy during war time in feudal Japan.[85] While Horikoshi drawing his character, he found out that drawing inexpressive hands was extremely difficult. He stated that he was on the verge of tears every week due to having to draw a particular character which they are left to assume is Tomura.[vol. 2, omake] Tomura made the group known to the heroes by leading the attack on the Unforeseen Simulation Joint.[ch. 13] He has a very twisted, malevolent, and maliciously warped personality, considered to be the polar opposite of Izuku Midoriya. He does not care for his or almost anyone else's life, having no qualms about performing evil deeds like murdering innocent people.[ch. 17, 68] Much like a child, he seemed unable to cope with his own feelings, instead lashing out and abusing both others or himself, tearing at his own neck when he becomes frustrated or stressed. This particular meltdown stems from the abuse he suffered from his hero-hating father and being alone during his childhood, with All For One claiming that it represented his suppressed urge to kill and destroy.[ep 111] During his fight with Re-Destro, he overcame the past shackles of guilt through his childhood feelings after remembering his memories alone and now looks forward to end the hero society.[ep 112] After All For One is arrested, Tomura takes full control of the League and eventually becomes the Grand Commander of the Paranormal Liberation Front, a combined villain army consisting of the League and the Meta Liberation Army.[ch. 240] Eventually, Tomura inherited All For One's Quirk as part of the villain's scheme to acquire One For All, with All For One's visage gradually absorbing Tomura's consciousness.[ch. 273, 336] But during the final battle, Tomura destroys All For One's visage and regains control of his body with the intent to destroy everything.[ch. 379]
