This video was inspired by the information found in the book "Pacific Rim Uprising: Ascension", the novelized prequel to the movie released today (March 23rd, 2018), that covers the time gap between "Pacific Rim", and "Pacific Rim Uprising".

It contains no spoilers for the movie "Pacific Rim Uprising" itself.

In order to leave the door open for Charlie Hunnam, and thus Raleigh Becket, to potentially return in the 3rd film; the director of "Uprising", Steven S. DeKnight, has since stated that they had chosen to remove a scene from Uprising's original movie script where a character explained that Raleigh had died from a sickness caused by his prolonged exposure to the radiations found in the Anteverse during Operation Pitfall.

Thus, leaving Mako Mori as the sole survivor among the Rangers that directly participated to the mission to close the Breach.

Raleigh's death in 2026, following Operation Pitfall, has nevertheless been kept in the official prequel novel to “Pacific Rim Uprising”, as well as the novelization of the movie itself, since the decision was made after the book went in print and the scenes were filmed.

I will thus assume that Raleigh didn't survive Operation Pitfall unless he is shown returning in a future movie sequel, or we are explicitly told what happened to him on screen (otherwise, I'll go crazy not knowing what might have happened to him, in the off chance no further sequel ever gets made, or Charlie Hunnam chooses not to return to the franchise).

This video is a work of pure love for the movie “Pacific Rim”, its characters, pretty much everything and everyone that were involved in the creation and making of the movie, and also its fandom.

Absolutely no personal or commercial profit was or is made from this video (nor was it ever intended). “Pacific Rim” was made by director Guillermo Del Toro, and was adapted from an original story written by Travis Beacham (who worked with Del Toro on the screenplay). It stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Clifton Collins Jr. and Ron Perlman.

It was released in 2013, produced by Legendary Pictures, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

This work is meant to be transformative, and to be a further exploration/study of some of the movie characters’ dynamics and relationships, as well as the issues and struggles they've had to overcome over the course of the movie.
