So John so how do you get to continuous
planning? What does that journey look
like and I know some questions
are how quickly can I realize a return
on the investment? How do you get to
continuous planning... actually
it starts with a vision, quite honestly.
If there's anything that I think is
challenging for FPA professionals it's to
have the time and the capacity of step
back and think about where can the
planning function go across the
organization you? The reality is
as Jim iterated the financial
plan is such the catcher's mitt and is
is important but it's not telling
relative to the business and so where
you start is having a vision and
perspective of how can I get operations?
How can I get the front line aspect of
the business much more involved
integrated and responsible for the
planning function across the
organization? So if I'm a manufacturing
organization right how do I really bring
in the demand planning activities into
the sales planning activities that then
culminate into the bookings or the
revenue planning activities? What does
that look like if I'm a services-based
organization? How do I think about
utilization and capacity planning or
either the people or whatever the case
may be in terms of how you actually
drive your services. How do I think about
that process and those drivers and
integrate the activities and the results
of that into the financial plan? So the
whole point is to
make sure how I can bring in operations
they have much better insight into the
real demand signals and the drivers and
the aspects that drive my business and
give me a lot more context into the
financial results of the organization.
