The Best Lovecraft Game is Unfinished - Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones

So I recently played Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones. The last of several games that were bought for me as birthday gifts. My friend got it for me because he knows I used to be really into Lovecraft and I gotta' say, this game is on the cusp of being a masterpiece. For 17 out of the 19 or so hours that I played it, I was completely engrossed. Then for the last 2 hours I thought it was a piece of shit. Oh well.

It's still a great game though. Any fan of Lovecraftian horror should definitely pick it up whenever it's on sale. The art, music, sound, writing, roleplaying, all top notch. If the devs had been able to finish it there's no doubt in my mind it still be getting talked about as one of the best of the new wave of crpgs. The unfinished nature of it though seems to have condemned it to relative obscurity though, much like Lovecraft during his life. Hopefully it doesn't take 50 years after the devs croak for it's merits to be recognized.

Either way, the studio just released a new (unrelated) game, so hopefully they can use the funds from it to make a sequel. The game is more than good enough to earn a follow-up.
