डीएमके नेता उदयनिधि स्टालिन द्वारा सनातन धर्म पर की गई विवादास्पद टिप्पणी के बाद से इस यह मुद्दा काफी गरमा गया है. अब यूपी के सीएम योगी आदित्यनाथ ने कहा है कि सनातन धर्म (CM yogi Adityanath On Sanatan Dharma) ही एकमात्र धर्म है और बाकी सब संप्रदाय और पूजा पद्धतियां हैं. सीएम योगी ने 'श्रीमद्भागवत कथा ज्ञान यज्ञ' कार्यक्रम में कहा कि सनातन धर्म ही एकमात्र धर्म है, बाकी सभी संप्रदाय और पूजा पद्धतियां हैं. सनातन मानवता का धर्म है और अगर इस पर हमला किया गया तो विनाश होगा और दुनिया भर में मानवता के लिए संकट पैदा हो जाएगा.
