'63 Boycott: Director Gordon Quinn on the History of Chicago Public School Protests

Описание к видео '63 Boycott: Director Gordon Quinn on the History of Chicago Public School Protests

Kartemquin Films founder Gordon Quinn reflects on the making of '63 Boycott, a 30-minute film screening around the United States and premiering on PBS later this year.

Using protest footage Quinn shot as a 21-year-old University of Chicago student, the documentary ties the 1963 Chicago Public School Boycott of segregation to contemporary issues of race, education and youth activism.

’63 Boycott will screen on Jan. 25, 26 and 30 at Chicago’s Gene Siskel Film Center, and on Feb. 8 at UChicago’s Doc Films as part of a double feature with Inquiring Nuns, an early Kartemquin film. PBS World Channel will broadcast ’63 Boycott nationwide on Feb. 25. For more information on the film, visit 63boycott.kartemquin.com.
