How to build a bioactive terrarium for a crested gecko including isopods!

First you start off with a drainage layer which is the clay balls rinse them really good but them on the bottom.
Make sure that it's a little higher in the back than the front.
After that you're going to add screening or weed block. I used screening cuz that's what I had. You cut it to fit the bottom and you lay it on top of the clay balls.
Then you're going to move on to soil. You can use any organic soil but I am using reptisoil today because I still have one bag left

Then you're going to go with a little bit of horticulture charcoal. Then on top of that you're going to do leaf litter and sphagum moss. I don't like to use a thick layer a sphagum moss because I always end up adding more later and I don't want to put too much stuff in there.

This species is called dwarf purple. Dwarf species of isopods are ideal for crested gecko enclosures because they can't see them so good so they usually will not eat them.

I added even more cork plants from Pangea those fake horizonal limbs are actually insulated foam for pipes that you can get from the hardware store you can also use pool noodles for this but I have found the cool noodles tend to break down and start flaking after a couple years.

I will probably end up adding more plants at some point as well Right now there's no gecko living in there I have to decide who's going to go in there I like to put my males in bioactives because they tend to dig less than a female.

Now this terrarium is ready for a gecko!!

Make sure if you have any questions please comment!
