Following are the Specific Instructions

Install Rasberry PI OS ( You can use Rasberry PI Manager or a similar Software- Select the Bookworm , 64bit version)
insert the SD card/ USB and Boot the Rasberry Pi
open the Raspberry pi Terminal and following are the commands to run

sudo apt update && sudo apt install git lsb-release
git clone https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-...
cd RetroPie-Setup
sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

copy the game ROMS to the ~/RetroPie/roms

example : to play a SNES game copy the ROM file to ~/RetroPie/roms/snes

you can run the game by typing

emulationstation

if there is an issue in the SDL configuration error would pop up and for that use the following work arounds

Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm) defaults to Wayland, but many emulators (e.g., RetroPie, RetroArch) work better with the older X11 display server. so in order to do that
Switch from Wayland to X11 (Recommended)

sudo raspi-config

Navigate to Advanced Options → Wayland → Switch to X11

sudo reboot

veryfi the display driver by

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

If it says x11, you're good to go. If not, repeat Step 1.
