Coined in 1896, psychoanalysis was a therapy created by Sigmund Freud as well as his hypothesis for how the mind worked. He built upon it over many years, identifying "defense mechanisms" of the mind and plotting out the framework of the personality. Many of his ideas were a foundation to ways of thinking and treatment in modern psychology: psychoanalysis paved the way for talk therapy and was instrumental in changing how mental illness was treated in the early 20th century.
In this video, you'll be welcomed by a psychoanalyst and encouraged to get comfortable. Some of the principles, including an explanation on the mind, will be discussed before we get into the treatment itself. Psychoanalysis is patient-driven, with the analyst guiding or redirecting if needed, so for the session, there won't be too too much speaking, save for our free association exercise.
Psychoanalysis can be considered a 📢 PSEUDOSCIENCE 📢 as much of it has little basis in modern science. From Wikipedia: "Pseudoscience consists of statements, beliefs, or practices that claim to be both scientific and factual but are incompatible with the scientific method." This video is only intended for relaxation purposes, and I'm just an actor on the Internet.

I want y'all to have a safe environment here regardless of where you come from, who you love, what you look like, you name it. I don't tolerate discrimination or hatred based on attributes you can't change like where you were born, what color you are, if you have a disability, or who you love– above all, be kind to one another. We're all just people, just trying to do our thing.

❥ Frequently Asked Questions:
“Why do you ask for a preferred name & address?” While I'm a cisgender woman, I'm very aware of my audience having members that don't use their 'legal' names (I'm one of them) and use specific pronouns, or are questioning their names and given pronouns. It's just common courtesy to make everyone more comfortable here. Even if it doesn't apply to you, it may apply to others and makes the world of difference.
“Why do you ask for consent to touch (even if it's a given)?” Coooommon courtesy; big thing with me. I hate being touched by anyone I don't know, but being asked even if I know I'm going to have to anyway is much more comfortable than someone putting their paws on me without warning. Common courtesy.
“Is your name really Calliope? How do you say it?” Yup. It's pronounced Ka-Lie-Oh-Pee, not Kal-Ee-Ope.
