ALL SHANES DAY SHOULD BE A NATIONAL HOLIDAY.
It was a very special moment on the day for those that stood around for what was maybe 2 hours on the south inner city corner of Westland row and Fenian street in Dublin this day. Not a drop of rain was felt on this December day as people swayed, danced, dodged traffic, cheered, laughed and began singing out for the bells on Shanes day for one of Ireland's greatest ever musicians. The lads of the rising sons had everyone in the vicinity in high spirits with songs, there's no doubt something powerful was in the air that day.

Musicians on the day
The Rising Sons, George Murphy, Glen Hansard Mundy, Declan O’Rourke, Camille O’Sullivan, Lisa O’Neill and Cait O’Riordan and Liam O’Maonlai, Jem Finer, Nick Cave
