STORYLINE:

British Radio in Iraq, known as Two Rivers, continues to broadcast confident military messages to persuade Iraqis that coalition forces have toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

In an identified part of the desert, the antennas are pointed straight towards Basra, the target is 1.2 million people.

5-thousand wind up radios are being distributed to the civilians of Basra - Iraq's second largest city - as coalition troops battle to win the hearts and minds of the people.

In a hidden tent in the desert, a military cartoonist also tries to convince Iraqi's that Saddam's rule is over.

The cartoons are turned into leaflets that are being dropped in their thousands over Basra.

The message is that civilian Iraqi's should trust the coalition and rise up against Saddam Hussein.

The messages are delivered by foot too. Coalition forces approach villagers, but some are weary and unconvinced. This villager's family was hiding in the house, too scared to be seen in public with british troops.

The villager told the troops that "we like you, but don't trust you. When you leave Saddam will punish us like the last Gulf War."

Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingrim said Friday that British commanders had contained Basra, and were "biding their time" over when to push into the city which is still held by Iraqi forces.

Meanwhile, a UNICEF spokesman told reporters Friday that a 10-vehicle convoy left Kuwait on Friday morning, heading for towns in the Basra region which are suffering from severe shortages.

Water pipelines stopped flowing after the electricity supply to pumping stations was knocked out by coalition airstrikes.
