Here's an add on to my walking in snow video, adding in the ice axe is very useful on steeper slopes with a bad runout, but it shouldn't take up the place of your footwork in the snow. Sometimes people depend a little bit to much on having the axe in their hands, so be sure to work on your foot work just as much as your self arrest!
