Abrasive Comments About Two French Razors

I received two razors at the end of the past month; a 6/8 River Razors 3/4 hollow custom, and a 7/8 Thiers Issard full hollow. Both of these were made in France and one was made for me by Boris at River Razors. On inspection, the River Razors edge looked excellent and it passed the packing peanut sharpness test easily. I've used it, and it is an exceptional shaver. The Thiers Issard's edge looked highly polished, but failed the sharpness test. I thought it might be useful to discuss abrasive properties and how levels of abrasion are used in order to explain how the Thiers Issard's edge could look so good, but also be so dull.
