Apply all the codes to the Twin version of game, not the deluxe one. The older the revision is, the better is the chance of the code working. Regions don't matter.

-Fifth View: To access a secret fifth zoom, switch to the fourth zoom during the race, then press any two zoom change buttons simultaneously. A bird's eye view camera will be activated, giving a great view of all the circuit.

-Mirror Mode: Hold the red zoom in button while pressing Start to begin the game. All of the track graphics and text will be flipped horizontally.

-Mirror Mode And Power Steering: Hold both Zoom buttons while pressing Start to begin your game. You'll be playing in mirror mode and the steering wheel will turn more freely.

-Backwards Tracks: Hold the shift lever Down while starting a game. You'll be driving the track in the opposite direction. Note: That in a multiplayer game the course direction is determined with majority rule; that is it won't work unless the majority of the players hold their shifter Down at this time.

-Drive The Pace Car: After choosing a course-but before the race starts, step on the Brake and simultaneously press the Start button. You'll be driving the mustang pace car.

-Vs. Pace Cars: After choosing a course-but before the race starts, step on the Brake and simultaneously push the shift lever Up. This will change your opponents car to pace cars.
Note: That in a multiplayer game, this will only change the appearance of the cars which are controlled by your game board (your screen only will be affected).

-Front View: To see your car from front to back, switch to the third or fourth zoom during the race, then press the Start button and both view change buttons simultaneously.

-Position Markers: Hold the Start button when changing views to make the car's position markers appear above the cars.

-Trailer Tricks: At the transmission select screen, step on the Brake to close the door on the trailer that holds your car or step on the Gas to view your car coming out of the trailer.

-Bird Trick: Start the "Highland Raceway" circuit competition and then turn around and race backwards avoiding cars. Go through the tunnel and stop right outside. When the sea gull attacks you turn around quickly and drive the race. If done right you will have the sea gull following you for almost the whole race.

-Super-Charged Engine: When selecting your transmission, select Manual. Head toward the pit in gear 6. when you exit, you will be in gear 1. From now on, you will have a super charged engine, do not change gear.

-Police Car Cameo: Press the start and zoom buttons while holding the brake and accellerate peddles.
Next, select automatic or manual transmission, then press start, zoom, brake and accelerate again. If you did it right, a police car will appear and run the course backwards.

-Activate everything at once: After you insert your coin press and hold the brake and both zoom buttons and then press start to select your course and your transmission.
Do not release the brake and zoom buttons until the race starts. If you do this you will be running in the pace car, backward, mirrored, and with no enemies.

Now let's talk about the basic game:

Indy 500 is a racing game based on IndyCar, and possesses an official license from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Players can race one of three courses: Indianapolis Motor Speedway (called Indy 500 in the game), Highland Raceway, and Bayside Street, the latter two being fictitious courses.
The race commences after the user has made their choice of automatic transmission or manual transmission with a 2-position shifter, capable of selecting 6 speeds.
Special features of the cabinet include a steering wheel with haptic feedback.
Similar to previous Sega arcade racing games, the game can be played from one of four different camera angles.

Each race begins with a rolling start, and players are tasked with racing against opponents and a timer in a three lap event, needing to make it to the next checkpoint before the timer ends.
Racing speeds are up to 380 kilometres per hour (240 mph), and up to 420 km/h (260 mph) while in a slipstream.
Up to eight players can compete in multiplayer, via a feature where multiple arcade cabinets can be linked.
