A wonderfully well preserved and fantastic sounding example of the great Barcelona luthier, Francisco Simplicio. As a builder myself I marvel at his skill and the execution of his elaborate designs. Certainly one can see the influence of that most magical of cities, Barcelona, where Simplicio lived and worked.

This particular example is constructed of Cuban mahogany, European spruce and features a tornavoz. For the unaware, a tornavoz is a cylinder that attaches inside the sound hole, extending almost to the back. There are a number of theories as to the sonic effect of this feature but I generally just play the guitar and go from there.

In this case the guitar is remarkably alive, with deep basses and singing trebles. Disciplined overtones while still retaining the bloom to the notes which have great sustain. There really is nothing else out there that sounds like a Simplicio and for those who want one, they rarely survive in this condition which is amazingly pristine. A great and iconic guitar that is also quite concert worthy.

This guitar is for sale, any inquires can be sent to me at [email protected]. Thank you for watching!
