Delray Connecting Railroad: Zug Island to U.S. Steel

On July 3rd, 2023, I visited Zug Island in Southwest Detroit to see the Delray Connecting Railroad in operation. While the blast furnaces on Zug Island have been idle since 2020, the coke refinery is still going strong and is frequently served by the DCRR. On this day, I'd catch the Delray Connecting's interchange train to the Canadian National at Great Lakes Works in Ecorse. DCRR SW1001 #64 would the power foxr the day's train of steel coils and fresh coke. After departing Zug Island, I followed the crew and their switcher to Great Lakes Works where some U.S. Steel jobs were working around the mill. I even managed to capture a little "train race" at the yard!
