About Kundadri
Kundadri is 380 Kms from Bengaluru and 32 Kms from Thirthahalli.
Kundadri Hill is 826 Meters 2710 Ft above sea level. Government of Karnataka joined hands with a philanthropist from Mumbai to construct an all-weather road to the top of the hill.
Kundadri is named after a Jain monk
Kundakundacharya.
Jain Temple on top is built during 17th Century.

Around Thirthahalli:
Sakrebailu Elephant Camp: 48 Kms from Thirthahalli. It houses several captive elephants.
Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary: 32 Kms from thirthahalli.
This is one of the best places to spot birds.
Kavaledurga Fort: 20 kms : A 9th century fort.

Kundadri is a hill (826 mt) with dense forests in the Western Ghats located in Shimoga District Karnataka State. This hill is known for 17th century Jain temple dedicated to thirthankara and the place is known to have given shelter to Acharya Kundakunda during earlier centuries. The main deity of this temple is Parshwanatha, 23rd tirthankar. Two small ponds formed by the rock on one side of this temple provided water
to earlier sages. More than two thousand years ago, a jain sage named Kundakunda Acharya stayed here and prompted the birth of this jain holy place.
