"This is a gathering for all segments of life in Jordan, represented by all political parties and the professional associations of Jordan here to express the feelings of the Jordanian people regarding the crime which was committed against the President Saddam Hussein who was so popular among the Jordanian people, as well as all over the Arab world, and to protest the crimes of the American imperialism and their practices in Iraq as well as to condemn those agents who are executing the will of the occupiers of Iraq."

STORYLINE:
Some 2,500 people gathered in Jordan to commemorate Saddam Hussein and condemn his execution on Wednesday in the country's largest pro-Saddam rally since the deposed leader was hanged on Saturday.
Jordan is home to a large Iraqi exile community that includes two of Saddam's daughters, but most of the attendees were Jordanian.
The former Jordanian Minister of Media Hani al-Khasawna said that people from all sections of life were at the rally, "to express the feelings of the Jordanian people regarding the crime which was committed against the President Saddam Hussein who was so popular among the Jordanian people, as well as all over the Arab world.''
Al-Khasawna added that they were protesting, ''the crimes of the American imperialism and their practices in Iraq as well as to condemn those agents who are executing the will of the occupiers of Iraq."
Saddam was executed in Baghdad on Saturday.
The execution came 56 days after a court convicted the former Iraqi leader and sentenced him to death for his role in the killings of 148 Shiite Muslims from a town where assassins tried to kill the dictator in 1982.
