Colchicine for Gout - Part 1: Things to Talk About with Your Doctor - Some Need-to-Know Info!

Описание к видео Colchicine for Gout - Part 1: Things to Talk About with Your Doctor - Some Need-to-Know Info!

PHARMACIST Fi shares things to talk about with your doctor before taking colchicine for gout or while taking colchicine for gout (some colchicine brand names you might recognize include: Colcrys, Mitigare, or Gloperba in U.S.A.; Colgout, Lengout, or Colcine in Australia), in this first episode of her 2-part series of 'Some Need-to-Know Info!' about colchicine.

Please note that the info in this series of colchicine videos and in this description section is for people taking colchicine for gout (not for people taking colchicine for other medical conditions).

Please also note: PHARMACIST Fi recommends making medicine decisions together with a doctor - not on your own.

Part 2 of this Colchicine video series (via this link:    • Colchicine for Gout - Part 2: Side Ef...   ) looks at potential side effects of colchicine - some of which are serious - so, although (thankfully!) most people on modern [smaller] gout dose schedules do not get side effects - it is important to find out what side effects to look out for, because if they did happen, some of them would need emergency medical attention.
Part 2 of this series also covers ways to try to avoid potentially life-threatening medicine interactions between colchicine and certain other types of medicines (for example: the antibiotic clarithromycin or the immune system suppressing medicine cyclosporine (which may also be spelled 'ciclosporin' or 'cyclosporin'), plus some other medicines) - which is why it is important to ask your pharmacist for a medicine interactions check before starting colchicine (of everything you take and have taken in the past 2 weeks, versus colchicine); and also, if you are already taking colchicine - ask for a medicine interactions check before starting any new medicine, herbal medicine or other health product.

Part 3 of this Colchicine video series (via this link:    / gszamw8dkdty   ) gives 7 ways you can try to avoid colchicine side effects.

PHARMACIST Fi has also make a video about the fascinating way colchicine works:    • Colchicine for Gout: 'How Does that W...

Here is a link to the video PHARMACIST Fi mentions about why you need a CMI for each medicine you take (a CMI is 'Consumer Medicine Information', which is called a 'Medication Guide' in the U.S.A. or 'Patient Information Leaflet' (PIL) in the U.K.; each medicine has its own CMI, which either comes with the medicine, or can be printed or emailed to you by a pharmacist or doctor):    • #2: Why You Need a CMI for Each Medic...

& here is a link to PHARMACIST Fi's video about why you need a 'Medicines, Allergies & Contacts List' - and to give an updated copy of it to each person who prescribes medicines or other health products for you (e.g. doctors, specialists, pharmacists, dentist, nurse, etc.) while you are taking colchicine - to try to reduce risk of a medicine interaction:    • #1: Make a 'Medicines, Allergies and ...
