CN 8302 SD75IACC Rebuild leading S 74381 09, BC Rail 4653 and CP Heritage Unit 7018

CN 8302, one of five SD75IACC DC to AC rebuilds, led Hixton, Wisconsin to Grande Prairie, Alberta train S 74381 09 across the Wainwright Sub on a dreary September afternoon. We will pick up the chase at Shonts, near the old Kilarny Farms wooden elevator - one of only two wooden elevators remaining on the Wainwright Sub west of Wainwright. Afterwards, we'll stop in at Lindbrook to catch M 34851 11 with an all blue lashup of BCOL 4653 and GECX 2038. After the meet, we head west of Lindbrook to check out how the SD75IACC sounds marching up the grade and then catch them at Ardrossan after meeting a few trains at Barker. Last stop of the chase was the Bailey Bridge, where the Wainwright Sub crosses the North Saskatchewan River. While at Bailey, we also catch Q 10251 10 and the Clover Bar day job with a set of GP9RMs. To keep with the theme of Progress Rail EMD rebuilds, we'll also see CPKC Heritage Unit CP 7018 at East Edmonton leading CPKC B81-08 and again in Strathcona, as they depart Edmonton on CPKC 419-08.
