Russian President Boris Yeltsin on Monday (2/3) named top security official Ivan Rybkin as a new deputy prime minister overseeing relations with former soviet republics.
Rybkin, currently secretary of Yeltsin's security council, replaced Valery Serov, who was dismissed at the weekend. Rybkin will abandon his current duties as head of the powerful security council. He told reporters he would continue to deal with Chechnya for some time.
