This week on One Detroit: The near century-old monument of Italian poet Dante Alighieri on Belle Isle in Detroit has been restored.

One Detroit’s Will Glover attended the unveiling ceremony to learn more about Alighieri’s legacy and how the monument’s restoration impacts the local Italian American community.

The 5th annual Detroit Black Film Festival this weekend will be hosted in tandem with the Taste of Black Spirits National Conference. Contributor Stephen Henderson talks with the festival’s co-directors Marshalle and Lazar Favors.

Plus, Michigan Tech Week 2024 takes place Oct. 1-4 at the newly renovated Michigan Central in Detroit. Glover talks with Rishi Moudgil, the executive director of the Michigan Founders Fund, about the four-day event for tech founders, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.


And fall is in full swing this weekend with the Fire & Flannel Festival, Pumpkin Patch Night and an Oktoberfest party. There are also some chances to see art, comedy and theatre. See what’s coming up on “One Detroit Weekend.”
