Reconciliation Unveiled: A Journey with Nancy Regan & Danny Graham

Описание к видео Reconciliation Unveiled: A Journey with Nancy Regan & Danny Graham

In this interview television anchor/book author Nancy Regan and Danny Graham have a deeply meaningful and inspirational conversation about what reconciliation can look like and how they have been working with Indigenous partners on reconciliation for many decades.

Their thought exchange is very insightful as Nancy Regan is quite familiar with the Friends United initiative and many of the Indigenous members they work with. Danny Graham not only worked in the Nova Scotia legal system as a lawyer but also formerly as an Aboriginal Rights and Reconciliation Lead of Nova Scotia for many years. Both also discuss how Indigenous people have in many cases not been afforded the same opportunities as other North Americans and how the legal system has been failing Indigenous people in so many ways. Danny Graham also makes some important suggestions for change.

Danny Graham describes how he is grateful to have been able to have very constructive communications with Indigenous people for decades and how they were able to share their vision as to how reconciliation should and could be done. Danny describes how he has been listening to Indigenous people for a long time to understand better what has gone wrong over the past centuries and how Indigenous people were able to educate him. In the interview, Nancy and Danny conclude that everybody should listen much more to Indigenous peoples as we can learn much from them and their valuable heritage and culture. They also discuss how colonialism has taken a very heavy toll on Indigenous people and how Friends United has been trying to make a difference over the years.
