On a budget, use a new electronic coil to replace the old points and condenser type, just disconnect or cut the bottom wire; then add your new kill switch wire/button to the lug underneath the new coil. Use a business card for the air gap at the flywheel.
I went ahead and got an aftermarket carburetor: as it was just as cheap in replacing the parts using a rebuild kit.
