How to install an Xtracycle SideCar!

Three important details that didn't make into the video:
The expander wedge should be threaded onto the bolt so that its angled side runs up against the angled side of the stem, reference the video for the correct orientation.

Insert the front stem into the bike so that 3-3/4" (95mm) of the stem is outside of the frame tube, then adjust the rear stem so that the platform is parallel to the center line of the bike. This ensures that there is enough of the stem engaged with the frame, but still allows room for the KickBack or kickstand.

The large Nylock nut may not be screwed all the way down on some axles. It is a Nyloc so there is little chance of it unthreading, however you can tighten it down to the stop to reduce the amount of horizontal play in the axle. Some play in the system is normal, do not over-tighten the nut.

If you'd like instructions on how to install the SideCar if you have a Kickback, please see the pdf on our website.

Other Tips and Tricks:
To maximize the life of the SideCar's hinges, lubricate them with a bit of grease during assembly, and periodically thereafter. Keeping the hinges at minimum tension will also prolong the life of the hinges: Minimum tension is the lowest tension where there is no play in the hinge.
Position the load close to the outboard wheel for best handling, and use a strap running from the outboard strap holes over the load to the inboard to keep the cargo from entering the wheel.
