About grasshopper:
Grasshopper is a group of jumping insects that are found in a variety of habitats. Grasshoppers occur in greatest numbers in lowland tropical forests, semiarid regions, and grasslands. They range in colour from green to olive or brown and may have yellow or red markings.

Life cycle:
The grasshopper life cycle only has three stages: egg, nymph, and adult. The process of going from egg to full adult grasshopper is called metamorphosis. A grasshopper's metamorphosis is incomplete, because it doesn't turn into a caterpillar.

1. Egg
Female grasshoppers lay eggs in the ground in the summer and fall. The eggs are laid in pods, which can contain a few or over a hundred eggs. The eggs hatch after about three weeks, depending on the temperature.

2. Nymph
The eggs hatch into wingless nymphs that eat voraciously and molt four or five times over a month.

3. Adult
The final molt reveals the adult grasshopper, which has wings. Adult grasshoppers become sexually mature after about two weeks and live for about two to three months. During this time, they eat and breed.

Diversity of grasshopper:
Around 11,000 species of grasshoppers exist as of today and the majority of grasshoppers are herbivores. However, some species are omnivorous as they also consume animal tissues and faeces. Grasshoppers vary in size, with most adult grasshoppers averaging between 1 to 7 cm in length.
