(12 Sep 2017) A blood spatter expert from the South African Police Service (SAPS) gave evidence in the trial Tuesday of Henri van Breda, who is accused of a triple murder.
Testifying at the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town, Captain Marius Joubert said his findings were "inconsistent" with Henri van Breda's statement of events, given his analysis of blood stain patterns.
Joubert told the court van Breda's statement that he had been in the toilet when his brother was attacked and that he saw someone hitting him after opening the bathroom door, was not backed up by blood stain patterns found on his clothing.
He also said that , according to his findings, blood flow patterns on van Breda's chest did not fit his statement that a scuffle had ensued between him and the alleged attacker.
Henri van Breda has pleaded not guilty of the murder of his parents and brother and the attempted murder of his sister in Stellenbosch in January 2015.
