   • Leslie 145 Speaker (1)

I made this video to show what is inside a Leslie speaker and to show the operation of the slow and fast speed motors.
It has two slow speed motors, one for the top horn and one for the lower drum and two fast speed motors, one for the top horn and one for the lower drum.

This is a Leslie 145 with a Leslie 147 40 watt tube amplifier in it.
The speakers and crossover are original.

The Leslie is connect to a 1968 Hammond B3 organ.
I am switching the speeds with a half-moon switch on the organ.

The speaker weighs 145 pounds.

It has a 15 inch Jensen P15LL 16 ohm woofer for the lower drum and a Jensen V-21 16 ohm horn driver with a 3/4" throat for the top rotor.
The crossover is set to 800 Hz, 12 dB per octave.
The the top rotor has a rotation speed of 400 RPM on Tremolo (fast speed) and 48 RPM on Chorale (slow speed). The lower drum rotates at 342 RPM on Tremolo and 40 RPM on Chorale.
The top rotor can bet set to one of three different speeds by selecting which pulley size you use on the fast speed motor shaft.
It is one pulley with three different sizes to choose from. Your options are small, medium and large.
Most people including myself use the middle pulley (medium size).

The top horn and lower drum spin in apposite directions The lower drum spins clockwise and the upper rotor spins counter clockwise.
